Higher Diploma Thesis on Security Institutions and Their Role in Combating Emerging Crimes: A Field Study in Mosul

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a defense for a Higher Diploma thesis titled “Security Institutions and Their Role in Combating Emerging Crimes (A Field Study in Mosul City).” The session was attended by Dr. Firas Abbas Fadil, Head of the Department, and several faculty members.
The study, presented by Ammar Mohammed Khalaf Al-Sabaawi from the Department of Sociology, addressed the issue of emerging crimes and the role of security institutions in curbing them, highlighting methods to confront these crimes to enhance community peace and security.
This research aimed to shed light on the role played by security institutions, particularly the police force, in reducing emerging crimes and how to confront them to foster peace and security within the Mosul community.
