Doctoral Dissertation Defense: “Poetic Space in the Works of Ibn Zumruk al-Andalusi (d. 797 AH)”
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts convened for the defense of a doctoral dissertation titled “Poetic Space in the Works of Ibn Zumruk al-Andalusi (d. 797 AH).” The viva was attended by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, Dean of the College, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Younis, Head of the Department, and numerous faculty members.
The study, submitted by postgraduate student Israa Jamal Khalil Al-Hamdani from the Department of Arabic Language, delved into the concept of poetic space as a critical term and explored its constituent elements.
The primary objective of this research was to meticulously examine poetic space and its key components, namely place, time, and vision, within the literary corpus of Ibn Zumruk al-Andalusi.
