Master’s Thesis on “Social Factors Influencing the Guidance of Children Towards University Education: A Field Study in Al-Shirqat District”

On Monday, July 8, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts discussed a Master’s thesis titled “Social Factors Influencing the Guidance of Children Towards University Education: A Field Study in Al-Shirqat District.” The session was attended by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, Dean of the College, Dr. Firas Abbas Fadhel, Head of the Department, and several faculty members.

The study, submitted by student Abd al-Razzaq Yassin Owaid al-Jubouri in the Department of Sociology, examined the social and psychological factors influencing families in Al-Shirqat District to guide their children toward higher university education, along with the societal impacts and driving factors behind this guidance.

The thesis aimed to identify these factors based on social, economic, and political variables, which are relative and change according to societal circumstances. The researcher selected the community of Al-Shirqat District as the human subject for testing the study’s hypotheses.
