History Dept. Holds Joint Meeting to Enhance Academic and Research Programs

The Department of History in the College of Arts held a joint meeting of its Scientific and Postgraduate Studies committees on Sunday, August 10, 2025. The meeting was attended by a majority of the committees’ members, as well as several faculty members from the departmental council. The session reviewed a number of agenda items focused on advancing the department’s academic standing in both teaching and scientific research.
Key topics of discussion included:
- Mechanisms for implementing a blended learning system in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, aligning with contemporary developments in university education methodologies.
- The organization and distribution of courses for postgraduate students (master’s and doctoral levels) in the fields of Islamic and Modern History. This process was designed to follow a structured schedule that considers the specific specializations of the faculty members.
- A discussion of several master’s thesis proposals, with necessary amendments made to prepare them for official approval.
The Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Taie, was present for part of the meeting. He encouraged the faculty to participate in the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education’s annual Science Day celebration and to continue publishing their research in reputable scientific journals, emphasizing the impact of such efforts on elevating the academic level of the department and college. He also urged faculty members to consistently update their personal profiles on the university’s official website to reflect their academic and research activities.
