Higher Diploma Thesis Defense on “The Role of Social Dialogue in Promoting Peace Among Different Cultures: A Field Study in Mosul”

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a defense for a Higher Diploma thesis, which is equivalent to a master’s degree. The thesis was titled “The Role of Social Dialogue in Promoting Peace Among Different Cultures: A Field Study in the City of Mosul.” The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Taie, the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Firas Abbas Fadil, and several faculty members.
The study, presented by student Khansaa Abdulsalam Younis Khalil, focused on social dialogue as an effective means of fostering peace and understanding among diverse cultures. The research highlighted the value of intercultural dialogue in the city of Mosul, using it as a rich case study due to its cultural diversity.
The primary goal of the study was to demonstrate the value, importance, and foundational principles of social dialogue. It sought to deepen the culture of dialogue by emphasizing its significance as a crucial element of human and civilizational understanding.
