Ph.D. Dissertation Defense in the Arabic dept.

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts held a defense for a doctoral dissertation on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The dissertation, submitted by student Raghdah Basman Adel, is titled “Eco-criticism in Contemporary Arabic Critical Discourse.” The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Ta’i; the Head of the Department, Dr. Ahmed Salih Al-Mawla; and several faculty members.

The study examines eco-criticism as it is manifested in various forms of academic work, including books, dissertations, and academic journals. Its primary objective is to identify the principles of eco-criticism and trace its trajectories within modern Arabic criticism.
