The Department of Translation recently organized a distinctive student activity to commemorate International Translation Day. This event was conducted under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Hala Khalid Nijim, and coordinated by the Chair of the Student Activities Committee, Assistant Professor Dr. Adhba Adnan Izzat. The initiative saw the active participation of numerous faculty members and students from the department. The program featured various events and activities specifically designed to highlight the crucial societal role of translators and the fundamental importance of the translation profession in fostering intercultural communication.

This day is celebrated annually in September by the United Nations and the International Federation of Translators (FIT). The observance serves to honor the efforts of translators and elevate the standing of a profession currently confronting escalating challenges, particularly in light of technological advancements and the rise of Artificial Intelligence. Despite these hurdles, the profession’s necessity is increasingly evident in the current era of globalization and rapid connectivity.
