Head of Translation Department Publishes Second Edition of Comparative Functional Grammar Book

The Academic book, “Comparative Functional Grammar of English and Arabic,” by Professor Dr. Hala Khalid Najm, Head of the Department of Translation at the College of Arts, was recently released in its second edition by Tabarak Publishing and Distribution House.

The book examines Michael Halliday’s theory of Applied Functional Grammar, analyzing both the English and Arabic languages from a comparative functional perspective. It highlights the similarities and differences between the two languages in light of Halliday’s three main linguistic metafunctions: the Ideational (experiential), the Interpersonal, and the Textual.

The volume is considered a solid academic reference in Comparative Linguistics, offering an analytical framework that helps develop translation skills and enhances the understanding of the relationship between language and culture in real-world contexts.
