Administrative Corruption and its Repercussions on Professional Work Ethics
The Department of Sociology at the College of Arts, University of Mosul, convened a scholarly workshop on Monday, October 20, 2025, titled “Administrative Corruption and its Repercussions on Professional Work Ethics.” The event took place in the college’s Al-Salam Hall.
The workshop featured presentations by Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aziz, Lecturer Dr. Abdul Qadir Ismail, and Assistant Lecturer Qusai Abdul Aziz. The central themes addressed the phenomenon of administrative corruption as one of the most critical issues threatening the stability of official Iraqi institutions. It was highlighted that this phenomenon negatively impacts citizen trust in these institutions and their personnel.
The presenters elucidated that administrative corruption encompasses the misuse and exploitation of authority for personal gain at the expense of the public interest. Furthermore, they outlined its manifestations, including bribery, the squandering of public funds, and a lack of administrative oversight. The lecturers underscored the paramount importance of establishing the principles of integrity and transparency to elevate professional work ethics and reinforce public confidence in governmental institutions.
