Master’s Thesis Defense: The Digital Divide Among Teaching Staff at the University of Mosul

The Department of Information and Knowledge Technology in the College of Arts discussed a Master’s thesis titled “The Digital Divide Among Teaching Staff at the University of Mosul and its Reflections on Scientific Research Achievement: A Case Study” on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Taie, the Head of the Department, Dr. Wasan Sami Saadallah, and a number of the College’s faculty members.

The study, presented by the student Omar Rashid Hashim in the Department of Information and Knowledge Technology, addressed the digital divide among the teaching staff at the University of Mosul in terms of its conceptual and scientific dimensions, and its direct reflections on the quality of scientific research.

The study aims to clarify the concept of the digital divide, the causes of its emergence, its types, characteristics, and importance, to present manifestations of information illiteracy, and to reveal the level of awareness among the teaching staff regarding the concept of the digital divide.
