Nineveh: A New Epic Resurrects Mesopotamia’s Timeless Legends

A faculty member from the College of Arts has released a groundbreaking epic novel that documents the history of Nineveh while invoking its eternal myths.
The historical-mythological epic, titled “Nineveh: The Crown of Immortality and the Forgotten Gods,” was recently published by Noon House for Printing and Publishing. Authored by Professor Mohammed Waleed Asaad, a faculty member in the Department of Translation, the work represents a significant contribution to the contemporary cultural and literary landscape.
A First for Middle Eastern Literature
This novel serves as the opening installment of an epic literary trilogy—the first of its kind in the Middle East. It transports readers back to the third millennium BCE, specifically to Nineveh during the height of the Akkadian Empire. Within its pages, history and myth converge in a narrative that breathes modern creative life into the civilizations of Mesopotamia.
An Ambitious Academic Venture
This release embodies an ambitious literary project that blends rigorous historical depth with mythological imagination. It underscores the vital role of academic voices in the creation of epic literature and sets the stage for the upcoming volumes of the trilogy, which aim to map out a human saga spanning across the ages.
