Good health and well-being (the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals) is the main pillar for building a strong and productive society. The health sector in Iraq is facing continuous challenges related to increasing demand and modernizing infrastructure, which makes sustainable development management an urgent necessity to provide comprehensive and equitable health care to all citizens.

In order to strengthen the cooperation frameworks between the faculties of Mosul University and in line with the directives of the Iraqi Ministry of higher education and scientific research, to hold lectures, workshops, guidance and awareness seminars on the downsides and risks of a number of emerging phenomena and problems in Iraqi society . The Faculty of Environmental Sciences / Department of Environmental Health was established in cooperation with the Department of sociology of the Faculty of Arts . A workshop on (social stigma) and its relationship to a number of social problems such as drug abuse, delinquency, behavioral deviation and divorce . On Thursday, January 30, 2025 . It was attended by a number of faculty professors and students . The dialogue was conducted by A.M.Dr. Rahab Abdul Jabbar Hamed is the head of the Environmental Health Department .He took turns to introduce the attendees to the dangers and disadvantages of the phenomenon of social stigma, both by A.Dr. Khalil Mohammed Hussein al-Khalidi and A. A.M .Dr . Hind Abdullah Ahmed from the Department of sociology .Social stigma is defined as the degradation and devaluation of an individual .It is an associative negative mental image attached to a certain member of society as an expression of disapproval and aversion from a person for committing behavior contrary to the values, traditions and Customs prevailing in his society . Social stigma is a negative phenomenon in communities, especially local ones, that hinders individuals from pursuing their social life comfortably . Some individuals are driven to deviate or re-commit crimes in retaliation against the social body .
