The Dean of the College attended the first session of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Council in Nineveh..

 

The Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, attended the first session of this year of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Council in Nineveh, which was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Nineveh Governorate Diwan, headed by Mr. Omar Namiq Al-Mawla, the technical deputy of the Nineveh Governor, and attended by Mr. Ahmed Younis , Assistant Planning, and Mr. Abdul Wahab Sultan, Assistant Reconstruction in the Governorate Diwan, and the membership of the relevant departments.
The Council issued important recommendations to improve the environmental situation in Nineveh Governorate, including launching major afforestation campaigns by government departments in cooperation with the Horticulture Department, the Agriculture Directorate and supporting agencies to increase green spaces, reduce desertification and reduce pollution, in addition to directing the Mosul Municipality Directorate to allocate sites to establish central incinerators to treat medical waste on both sides of the city according to environmental specifications and requirements and away from city centers and introducing modern technologies such as thermo and sterilization systems for safe disposal of health institution waste and other recommendations to reduce the impact of climate change in Nineveh Governorate.
