College of Environmental Sciences

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Environmental Health, Dr. Rahab Abdul-Jabbar Hamid, the College of Environmental Sciences / Department of Environmental Health, in cooperation with the College of Arts, Department of Sociology and the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop entitled “Combating Social Stigma”, this morning, Thursday, January 30, 2025, in the college discussion hall.

It was delivered by:
– Dr. Rahab Abdul-Jabbar Hamid Al-Bakr / Head of the Department of Environmental Health in our college.
– Dr. Khalil Muhammad Al-Khalidi / College of Arts / Department of Sociology.
– Dr. Hind Abdullah Ahmed / College of Arts / Department of Sociology.

The workshop included explaining the concept of social stigma, its causes and negative effects on society, as well as the role of institutions in conveying correct concepts, community awareness and promoting a culture of accepting others.

The workshop aimed to spread awareness of the concept of social stigma and its effects on individuals and society, and to spread a culture of tolerance and understanding among students and respect for differences and diversity among individuals.
