A workshop at the College of Environmental Sciences on the environment and the right of individuals to it..

 

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and the attendance of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Munir Salem Taha, the College of Environmental Sciences / Department of Environmental Technology held a workshop entitled “Human Right to a Clean Environment”, this morning, Monday, February 3, 2025, in the college discussion hall.

It was delivered by:
– Asst. Dr. Tahseen Ali Jalmiran / College of Environmental Sciences.
– Asst. Dr. Huda Hadi Mahmoud / College of Law.
– Asst. Dr. Hala Ahmed Muhammad / College of Law.

The workshop included several axes, including protecting public health, supporting quality of life, and enhancing future sustainability, as well as promoting equality and social justice. The role of individuals and community institutions in preserving the environment was also clarified.

The workshop aimed to enhance the concept of the human right to live in a healthy and safe environment free of pollution.

The workshop recommended working on devoting the idea of ​​​​special environmental legislation, unifying the official reference for cooperation with environmental affairs, activating the granting of the status of judicial officer to employees of the Ministry of Environment, strengthening the environmental impact assessment system, and finally activating the mechanisms of the work of the Environmental Protection Fund and its resources and stipulating penalties for environmental violations and crimes committed in violation of the provisions of this law, and applying the most severe penalty.

The Head of the Environmental Technology Department, Dr. Iyad Fadil Al-Nama, presented certificates of appreciation to the lecturers for their active participation in holding the workshop.
