Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and under the supervision and attendance of the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, and within the series of seminars for graduate students in the Department of Environmental Sciences, two seminars were held in the department on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the college discussion hall,
The first was given by researcher Baraa Yaqoub Ishaq entitled “Choosing the optimal site for burying solid waste in the city of Tal Afar using multi-criteria analysis and geographic information systems” and the second was given by researcher Hanan Abdul Rahman Khalaf entitled “Studying water quality and applying a model to monitor the variation in the characteristics of Mosul Dam Lake water remotely”.
The first seminar included factors that must be taken into account to ensure that negative impacts on the environment and public health are minimized, as well as discussing the use of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as effective tools to support decision-making.
While the second seminar included assessing the quality of Mosul Dam Lake water and analyzing the physical, chemical and biological properties of the lake water.
