A scene from the seminars held at the College of Environmental Sciences.

 

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, and as part of a series of seminars for graduate students in the Department of Environmental Sciences, two seminars were held in the department on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The first, presented by student Rana Raed Shukri, was titled “Using Some Types of Fungi to Dispose of Expired Raw Materials Used in Pharmaceuticals.” The seminar included a geo-ecological assessment and health risks of heavy metals in the surface soil of the left side of Mosul using an XRF device, pollution indicators, statistical analysis, and some physicochemical tests.

The second, presented by student Ruqayya Badr Muhammad, was titled “Geo-ecological Assessment and Health Risks of Heavy Metals in the Surface Soil of Mosul.” It included the presentation of innovative and new solutions to improve the management of expired chemicals in line with environmental principles and sustainable development in the pharmaceutical industry.
