A workshop at the College of Environmental Sciences on sustainable development and the human right to it.

Under the patronage of Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Environmental Technology, Dr. Ayad Fadil Al-Nama, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Environmental Technology, in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency and the College of Law, held a workshop entitled “The Human Right to Sustainable Development” on the morning of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in the college’s discussion hall.
It was presented by:
– Dr. Yasser Shaker Mahmoud / College of Law.
– Dr. Ahmed Faris Idris / College of Law.
– Lecturer Wissam Saeed Abdul / College of Environmental Sciences.
The workshop included a statement of the rights of the individual and society to ensure a healthy, safe, and sustainable environment as a human right. It also addressed the types and characteristics of green sustainable development, its benefits, and the position of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Law on it.
The workshop recommended preserving the environment, conserving its natural resources, and emphasizing the legal principles and rules agreed upon within the provisions of the Constitution to guarantee the right to sustainable development, which is an urgent necessity for the continuation of life.
