Participation of the Dean of the College and Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences in the discussion of a doctoral thesis
The Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences chairs a doctoral dissertation committee at the College of Science.
Professor Muthanna Jassim Muhammad Al-Taie, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, chaired a doctoral dissertation committee at the College of Science/Department of Life Sciences on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in the College of Science/Department of Life Sciences. Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, participated in the discussion. The committee’s thesis was titled “The Effect of Physical Mutagenesis on the Production of the Enzyme L-Asparaginase from Some Locally Isolated Yeasts and a Study of Some of Its Biological Applications.”
The study aimed to isolate and identify yeast species from plants, increase the production of the asparaginase enzyme using physical and chemical mutagenic agents, and investigate some of its biological applications in inhibiting cancer cells and some pathogenic genes in fungi. This contributes to achieving the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education).
