The College of Environmental Sciences discusses a master’s thesis on wastewater treatment in an intravenous solutions factory.Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, the master’s thesis discussion entitled “Treating Wastewater from the Intravenous Solutions Factory in Mosul Using Biological and Nano-Methods” for the student Ghufran Maysar Abdulaziz Al-Sanjari took place this morning, Sunday, August 31, 2025, in the discussion hall of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Abdul Ahmed Hassan, with Assistant Professor Ayman Muhammad Jabr and Assistant Professor Suha Abdullah Najm as members, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Mazen Nizar Fadl and Lecturer Dr. Suhair Munir Daoud. The study aimed to produce nano-activated carbon from PET plastic waste and corncob waste, with the aim of evaluating the feasibility of recycling these wastes and converting them into effective materials for treating industrial water. It also evaluated the efficiency of removing organic pollutants, heavy metals, and industrial dyes (such as methyl blue) from wastewater through photocatalytic processes. It also contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by developing environmentally friendly and low-cost adsorbents derived from waste to improve the efficiency of industrial water treatment and reduce the environmental impact of solid waste. The study achieved five Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). At the end of the discussion, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Abdul Ahmed Hassan, from Tikrit University / College of Education for Women, in appreciation of his distinguished scientific efforts and his endeavour to travel.
