The College of Environmental Sciences discusses a master’s thesis on investigating toxic plants in different environments.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Omar Idris, the Master’s thesis discussion entitled “Investigation of Poisonous Plants in Different Environments Using Molecular Biology and Artificial Intelligence” for student Asiya Muhammad Salih Muhammad was held this morning, Monday, September 1, 2025, in the Department of Environmental Sciences. The thesis was discussed in the discussion hall of our college.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Amjad Abdul Hadi Muhammad, and included Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Sultan and Asst. Dr. Faten Khalil Ibrahim, under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil.
The study aimed to investigate and classify poisonous plant species, identify plants using molecular methods, and determine the accuracy of artificial intelligence programs in identifying poisonous plants. The study also achieved four Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
At the conclusion of the discussion, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Omar Idris, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Amjad Abdul Hadi Muhammad, University of Mosul/College of Science, and to Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Sultan, Northern Technical University/College of Agricultural Technology, in appreciation of their scientific efforts.
