Participation of a faculty member from the College of Environmental Sciences in a doctoral thesis discussion committee on the biochemical and molecular assessment of Parkinson’s disease patients.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, a lecturer at the College of Environmental Sciences, participated in the doctoral dissertation discussion committee, entitled:
“Biochemical and Molecular Evaluation of Parkinson’s Disease Patients in Mosul City.”
The thesis, presented by researcher Manar Khader Ahmed, took place at the Department of Life Sciences, College of Science, University of Mosul, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The thesis was chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil, and included Professor Dr. Muntaha Daoud Mahmoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Ghanem Saleh, Assistant Professor Dr. Waad Sabri Shaher, and Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Taha Yassin. The committee was supervised and included Assistant Professor Dr. Sarab Daoud Suleiman and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Muhammad Hassan.
The thesis aimed to identify the most important genetic mutations in the SNCA gene and their potential use as molecular markers for early disease diagnosis. The study examines biochemical markers and their relationship with molecular markers to identify early indicators of disease, such as SNCA, TH, HCRT, NFL, 8-OHdG, and uric acid. This participation comes within the framework of scientific and academic cooperation and the promotion of scientific research in related medical and environmental fields. This study achieves three Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
