Discussion of a doctoral thesis on comparing the mechanisms of bacterial flagellar movement in different environments

Mr. Ayad Muhammad Khalaf, a lecturer in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Environmental Sciences, discussed his doctoral thesis, which was conducted at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at Tikrit University. The thesis was titled “Comparing the Mechanisms of Bacterial Flagellar Movement in Different Environments and Studying Their Biological Effectiveness.”

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Karkaz Muhammad Thilj, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Jalal Shukr, Assistant Professor Dr. Arqam Muhammad Azhar, Assistant Professor Dr. Rashid Khamis Shaaban, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mujahid Khalaf Ali, with the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ayman Muhammad Jabr and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Khalaf Saleh.
The study aimed to shed light on the characteristics and mechanisms of bacterial flagellar movement in diverse environments, given their important role in bacteria’s adaptation to environmental conditions and their ability to survive and reproduce. The study also demonstrated that variations in environments lead to changes in the speed and efficiency of flagellar movement, which directly impacts the biological activity of bacteria and their ability to produce various environmental and health effects. This study achieved five goals of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
