The College of Environmental Sciences discusses a master’s thesis focusing on evaluating the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants in the city of Mosul.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, the Master’s thesis defense in the Department of Environmental Sciences, entitled “Evaluation of the Efficiency of Wastewater Treatment Plants in Mosul City and Determining Their Suitability for Civilian and Agricultural Uses,” was held this morning, Monday, September 8, 2025, in the discussion hall of our college. The defense was held for student Hajar Abdul Hakim Nafi Aziz in the Department of Environmental Sciences. The thesis, titled “Evaluation of the Efficiency of Wastewater Treatment Plants in Mosul City and Determining Their Suitability for Civilian and Agricultural Uses,” was held for the student in the discussion hall of our college.
The defense committee was chaired by Professor Ibrahim Omar Saeed, with the membership of Assistant Professor Hazem Jumaa Mahmoud and Assistant Professor Faten Khalil Ibrahim, and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Mazen Nizar Fadl and Assistant Professor Ayman Muhammad Jabr.
The study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants in the city of Mosul, study and analyze the characteristics of treated water, and assess potential environmental and health risks. The study also achieved five Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).
At the conclusion of the discussion, the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Ibrahim Omar Saeed, from Tikrit University/College of Science, in appreciation of his valuable scientific comments, sound guidance, and patience during the travel.
