The College of Environmental Sciences discusses a master’s thesis on the impact of environmental factors on cell aging.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, the Master’s thesis defense in the Department of Environmental Sciences, entitled “The Impact of Environmental Factors and Pollution on Cellular Aging and Viability,” was held this morning, Monday, September 8, 2025, in the discussion hall of the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering. The thesis, titled “The Impact of Environmental Factors and Pollution on Cellular Aging and Viability,” was presented by student Muhammad Aydan Jalal. The defense committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Muhammad, with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Rahab Abdul-Jabbar Hamid and Assistant Professor Dr. Ibtisam Nazim Hazem, and was supervised and joined by Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil. The study aimed to explore the impact of smoking and indoor air pollution on human aging by examining the effects on chromosome ends. The study also achieved four Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land). At the conclusion of the discussion, the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Muhammad, University of Mosul/College of Science, and to Assistant Professor Dr. Ibtisam Nazim Hazim, Northern Technical University/Technical Medical Institute, in appreciation of their valuable scientific comments and sound guidance.
