The College of Environmental Sciences discusses a master’s thesis focusing on the impact of climate change on stimulating fungi that cause plant diseases.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, and accompanied by the Dean’s Assistants for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, the Master’s thesis defense in the Department of Environmental Sciences, entitled “The Impact of Climate Change on Stimulating Plant Pathogenic Fungi to Infect Humans,” was held this morning, Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the discussion hall of our college. The defense was held for the student Nabaa Ziad Muhammad Muhammad Ali, and was titled “The Impact of Climate Change on Stimulating Plant Pathogenic Fungi to Infect Humans.” The defense committee was chaired by Professor Hiam Adel Ibrahim, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Shaima Khalil Abdullah and Assistant Professor Dr. Nour Maysar Sadiq, under the supervision and membership of Professor Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil.
The research aims to study the relationship between changing environmental factors and the increase in the incidence of infection of living organisms, as well as to study the ability of plant-infecting fungi to transmit to mice. The study also achieved three Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). At the conclusion of the discussion, the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Muthanna Jassim Al-Taie, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Hiam Adel Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Science at the University of Mosul, in appreciation of her valuable comments and distinguished, insightful guidance.
