A scientific visit by the fourth stage of the Environmental Sciences Department to the Yarmouk Water Treatment Plant

As part of its regular scientific activities, the Department of Environmental Sciences at the College of Environmental Sciences, in cooperation with relevant departments and institutions, organized a field visit to the Yarmouk Wastewater Treatment Plant for fourth-year students. This visit was part of the requirements for the Environmental Applications course.

The visit aimed to familiarize students with the stages of wastewater treatment and the types of systems used, starting with primary and physical treatment, then biological treatment, and finally advanced treatment to remove micro-pollutants and ensure that the treated water meets environmental standards.

The visit also included a comprehensive tour of the plant’s various sections, during which students observed the operational processes and monitoring and control equipment used to track water quality. They also learned about methods for sludge disposal and treatment, and its potential uses in agriculture after safe treatment.

The students showed great interest during the visit and asked numerous scientific questions related to the plant’s efficiency and its role in protecting the environment from water pollution.

At the end of the visit, the plant supervisors expressed their satisfaction with this academic exchange, emphasizing the importance of such visits in enhancing students’ environmental awareness and bridging the gap between theory and practice in the field of water management and treatment.
