A scientific visit by students of the Climate Change Department to the Remote Sensing Center

Under the direct guidance of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, and the supervision of the Head of the Climate Change Department, Dr. Ali Zain Al-Abidin Haider, and as part of the department’s ongoing activities to enhance students’ practical skills and broaden their knowledge of modern technologies used in environmental monitoring, second-year students, accompanied by several faculty members, conducted a scientific visit to the Remote Sensing Center on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

During the visit, the students learned about the most important systems and equipment used in remote sensing, the role of satellite imagery in monitoring environmental changes, determining land use, and analyzing vegetation cover. They also learned how these technologies can be used to support the principles of sustainable agriculture by assessing soil fertility, identifying areas of water stress, and monitoring agricultural production with high accuracy.

The visit provided the students with an opportunity to ask questions and interact with specialists, which enhanced their understanding of the practical applications of remote sensing in the field of climate change and natural resource management. The College of Environmental Sciences also extends its thanks and appreciation to the director and staff of the Remote Sensing Center for their warm welcome and for providing valuable information that contributed to enriching the scientific aspect of the students.
