A scientific workshop was held at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences on the dangers of drugs.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision and in the presence of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Environmental Sciences, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at our college and the Department of Studies and Planning/Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul, held a scientific workshop entitled “The Dangers of Drugs.”
The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Hadi Jassim.
The workshop addressed a number of important awareness and educational topics, most notably:
– An introduction to drugs, their types, and their widespread forms.
– The health effects of drugs on the individual, particularly on the nervous and psychological systems.
– The social and economic repercussions of drug use on the family and society.
– The dangers of addiction and its impact on academic achievement and job performance.
– The legal aspects and penalties resulting from drug use and trafficking.
– The role of educational institutions and the family in prevention and awareness.
– Emphasizing the importance of strengthening community awareness and spreading a culture of rejection and avoidance of drugs. The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of this scourge and ways to prevent it, especially among youth and students. The workshop achieved five Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3, Goal 4, Goal 11, Goal 16, and Goal 17).
In conclusion, the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdulhadi Jassim.
