The Faculty of Environmental Sciences is holding a scientific workshop on human rights in the digital age.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Muthanna Jassim Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, the College of Environmental Sciences/Department of Environmental Health, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit and the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific workshop entitled:
“Human Rights in the Digital Age: Protecting Privacy and Freedom of Expression.” The workshop took place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in the discussion hall of the College of Environmental Sciences.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hind Ziad Nafie, a faculty member at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul. She addressed several important topics, including:
The concept of human rights in the contemporary digital environment.
The relationship between protecting privacy and freedom of expression in cyberspace.
The most prominent legal, technical, and political challenges posed by digital transformation.
Legitimate restrictions on freedom of expression and mechanisms for balancing them with security and social requirements.
The workshop aimed to enhance academic awareness of human rights in the digital age and to highlight the importance of protecting personal data and guaranteeing freedom of expression, thereby contributing to the establishment of a culture of digital rights among university faculty and students. In conclusion, Mr. Mohammed Yahya Alawi, Head of the Environmental Health Department, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Hind Ziad Nafie.
