Workshop at the College of Environmental Sciences on scientific publishing in reputable journals.

 

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Walid Al-Abbasi, and the heads of departments, the College of Environmental Sciences / Department of Environmental Technology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a workshop entitled “Stimulating Reputable Scientific Publishing”, this morning, Monday, February 10, 2025, at ten o’clock in the morning in the college discussion hall.

It was delivered by:
– Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Ahmed / College of Computer Science and Mathematics.
– Assistant Professor Dr. Rasha Khaled Sabry / College of Environmental Sciences and Head of the Scientific Research Support Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul.

The workshop covered several topics on how to employ artificial intelligence in scientific research, including how to write scientific papers using artificial intelligence tools, analyze and manage data through advanced tools in statistical analysis, graphic visualizations, linguistic review and rephrasing to ensure the quality of academic texts, and how to prepare presentations in fast, professional ways, as well as how to avoid plagiarism and ensure the originality of research using plagiarism detection tools.

The tasks of artificial intelligence programs and how to employ them to obtain the best scientific results were also explained, as shown below:

1. ChatGPT

Objective: Helps in generating ideas, writing drafts, and analyzing text data.

Employment: It can be used to formulate research summaries, write research queries, and suggest titles and introductions for studies.

2. Deepseek

Objective: An artificial intelligence search engine dedicated to scientific research and data.

Employment: It is used to find reliable sources for research and search for relevant scientific papers.

3. Experts AI

Objective: A platform based on artificial intelligence to connect researchers with experts in various disciplines.

Recruitment: Helps researchers reach experts to review research or provide scientific advice.

4. Matecat

Purpose: An AI-assisted translation tool to improve translation accuracy and speed.

Recruitment: Used to accurately translate scientific papers and academic articles while preserving scientific terminology.

5. Canva

Purpose: A graphic design platform to create presentations and illustrations for research.

Recruitment: Used to create scientific posters, conference presentations, and graphs to illustrate research findings.

6. Scipace

Purpose: An AI tool that helps in proofreading and improving academic writing.

Recruitment: Used to review and edit scientific papers before submitting them to peer-reviewed journals.

7. Undetected AI

Purpose: A tool that helps improve AI-written texts and make them more natural and less detectable by generated content recognition systems.

Recruitment: Used to ensure that AI-aided research is not flagged as non-original content.

8. Wordtune

Purpose: A tool to rephrase and improve academic texts.

Employment: Used to provide more professional and clear alternatives to sentences in research papers and scientific articles.
