Department of Theatrical Arts

The Department of Dramatic Arts was established along with the College of Fine Arts in the academic year 1994-1995 with a single branch (Acting), and then the Directing branch was opened in later years. The department aims to prepare leading, educational, artistic, and cultural cadres that elevate the aesthetic taste of Iraqi society through the humanistic message of theater art. The department also aims to hold annual periodic festivals to develop and academically refine our students’ talents.

Vision: Excellence in providing scientific, research, and community services, enabling students to meet the needs of the job market, and supplying institutions with artistic talents. Mission:

To establish the concept of scientific research in the field of dramatic arts.
To prepare specialized artistic cadres in the field of theater who are directly connected with the community and its contemporary issues.
To contribute to community development by building bridges with community members through holding festivals and theatrical performances.
To follow up on graduates’ affairs to help them find job opportunities and maintain continuous communication with them.
To sponsor academically outstanding students and help them complete their higher university studies. Objectives: To qualify the department’s graduates by preparing student cadres who are qualified to work in both the public and private sectors, especially satellite channels as reporters, preparers, editors, and directors, and to work in the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Education, and Culture, as well as in guidance and awareness-based service and community institutions, capable of spreading artistic and cultural awareness in Nineveh Governorate.
