The Body as an Expressive Tool in Conceptual Arts… A Seminar at the College of Fine Arts

The Department of Art Education at the College of Fine Arts held a seminar titled “The Body as an Expressive Tool in Conceptual Arts” on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The session was attended by the Head of the Department and a number of faculty members and was presented by Asst. Prof. Firdaws Behnam Yashua.

The seminar reviewed the pivotal role of the body in conceptual arts as a direct medium, a ground for meaning, a factor linked to time and space, and a conduit for sensory and psychological experience.

It discussed how the body transforms from a mere visual object into a living expressive tool that enables the artist to communicate with the audience on multiple levels—whether through direct physical presence, shared experience, or deep symbolic suggestion. This activity aligns with achieving Sustainable Development Goal (4).
