A Master’s Thesis Discusses the Ontology of the Tale and its Representations in the Theatrical Actor’s Performance at the College of Fine Arts, University of Mosul
On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a scientific committee at the College of Fine Arts, University of Mosul, discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “The Ontology of the Tale and its Representations in the Theatrical Actor’s Performance: The Experience of Majid Darandash as a Model.” The defense took place in Jalal Jameel Hall, attended by the Administrative Assistant and graduate students.
The thesis, submitted by student Ashraf Salem Mohammed, explored the concepts of narrative and existence, which serve as a medium to embody the tale through the actor’s diverse tools. Through this, the tale transforms into an expressive space that reveals the existential dimension of theatre. The actor also strives to explore concepts of identity and human existence within the structure of the theatrical performance, which is manifested through the narrator-actor carrying their unique worldview.
The study aimed to identify the ontology of the tale and its representations in the performance of the theatrical actor, with a particular focus on the research sample.
The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Kadhim Mohammed Al-Tayeb from the University of Baghdad / College of Fine Arts. The membership included Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Mohammed Jandari and Assist. Prof. Dr. Wissam Khidhr Moussa from the University of Mosul / College of Fine Arts, under the supervision and membership of Assist. Prof. Dr. Aqeel Majid Hamid from the College of Fine Arts, University of Mosul.
