“Depressive Disorders Among Nurses Working in Pediatric Wards in Mosul Hospitals” and the defense was held in the discussion hall at the College of Nursing / University of Mosul.
This thesis defense aligns with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education). The study aimed to identify the prevalence of depressive symptoms among nurses working in pediatric wards, explore associated factors such as workload, shift patterns, and psychological and social support, and to propose interventions to improve the mental well-being of this critical healthcare group.
The findings of the study revealed that a significant proportion of nurses working in pediatric wards suffer from varying degrees of depressive symptoms. The results also showed a statistically significant correlation between depression levels and factors such as long working hours, lack of professional support, and constant exposure to critical pediatric cases. The study recommended implementing psychological support programs and professional training to enhance the mental health of nurses and improve the hospital work environment.
