The researcher discussed unilateral economic sanctions at the international level and the imposition of economic sanctions by one country on another country without the passage of the decision to impose those sanctions at the United Nations, and this is what differentiates them from the collective economic sanctions imposed in accordance with UN resolutions. The researcher reached a number of results, foremost among which was that the unilateral economic sanctions appeared earlier than the collective economic sanctions

The unilateral economic sanctions differ in terms of reciprocity, countermeasures and economic measures. Unilateral economic sanctions also aim to achieve the interest of the imposing countries, and as a pretext for the maintenance of international peace and security
