Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Mosul, and Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khaled Jassim participated in the proceedings of the Fifth International Scientific Conference on Suicide Prevention in Iraq, which was held in Erbil for the period September 11-12, 2023, which witnessed a governmental and international presence of representatives of a number of Iraqi ministries and organizations. International organizations, including the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration, representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Health, and national international non-governmental organizations. The conference aims to formulate a national strategy to prevent suicide in Iraq, as many proposals were presented in the field of finding appropriate treatments to reduce this phenomenon. The phenomenon of suicide, which constitutes a societal threat and a humanitarian danger that leads to destabilization of society and the security of its individuals, as our college, represented by its deanship and cadres, seeks to work seriously by providing scientific studies and establishing awareness-raising activities aimed at reducing phenomena and practices that sometimes rise to the level of crimes punishable by law, in addition to their dangers. On basic human rights and freedoms approved by national legislation, international instruments, charters and agreements.
