Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision and presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law, and the members of the College Council, the Public Law Branch in our college held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, the scientific workshop entitled The Impact of Combating Corruption in Achieving Development Goals. sustainable development and enhancing legal security requirements, which witnessed the submission of a number of research papers that dealt with sustainable development and its role in achieving well-being for peoples and working to guarantee the rights of future generations, while clarifying its social, economic and environmental elements and their relationship to combating corruption, which means the abuse of power as a destructive phenomenon that hinders the achievement of development of all kinds because it That is, corruption is contrary to the public interest and obstructs the development of any development strategy with mechanisms that contribute to societal advancement and human prosperity, with reference to the position of the Iraqi legislator within the scope of criminal legislation in combating administrative corruption, with reference to the Convention against Administrative Corruption, which expanded its scope until it now includes crimes committed in The private sector, explaining its effects on all societal, economic and humanitarian levels, clarifying its types and global policy tools to combat it, the role of international organizations in developing procedures and taking steps to reduce it, its relationship to legal maturity and community awareness, and the role of government regulatory agencies and their legal procedures to eliminate this phenomenon. The workshop witnessed a remarkable attendance. To researchers, academics and legal professionals who asked many questions and inquiries about the topic of the workshop, they were answered in detail by those in charge of it. Then the Deanship of the College presented certificates of appreciation to the workshop management and the participants. Then Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, gave a speech in which he appreciated the efforts of the Presidency of the Public Law Branch. In holding this activity, which comes within the series of scientific, cultural, academic and student activities of our college during the current academic year 2023-2024.
