Master’s thesis in the Human Rights Law Branch on legal protection for victims of human rights violations,,,
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the Human Rights Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on legal protection for victims of human rights violations, attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Mosul, and a number of members of the College Council and its lecturers.
The thesis submitted by researcher Hassan Abdul-Wahhab Ahmed in the Human Rights Law Branch addressed protection and redress for victims of human rights violations, as many actions and behaviors that may be issued or committed by agencies or individuals working in their official or individual capacity or as a result of unintentional errors or unstable security conditions sometimes constitute serious and dangerous violations of the basic rights and freedoms of individuals under the rules of international human rights law or under constitutional texts and national legislation regulating rights and requiring protection.
The message aims to show that legal protection is the legal procedures, activities and measures taken by national and international judicial and non-judicial institutions, and its goal is to protect human rights from violations, provide effective means of grievance, redress the harm caused to victims and reveal the truth about violations. The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Abdul Wahab Abdullah, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khaled Jassim, Assistant Professor Dr. Adi Muhammad Redha and the membership of the supervision of Professor Dr. Raqib Muhammad Jassim.
