Community Participation

Within the series of scientific, research, academic and community participations of the members of the College of Law at the University of Mosul, Mr. Haitham Amer Jassim Al-Shakirji / College of Law at the University of Mosul participated on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in the celebration of the Nineveh Vision for Sustainable Development, which was held by the United Nations Mission in Iraq at its headquarters in Nineveh Governorate, which aims to achieve the seventeen sustainable development goals, as the celebration witnessed the participation of the United Nations offices, the World Center for Social Services, the United Nations Model for Iraqi Youth and civil society organizations.
During it, the following points were addressed:
1- Building the human being:
– Alleviating poverty
– Providing decent job opportunities for all the unemployed
– Establishing a highly effective and comprehensive education system for all
– Strengthening an effective and comprehensive health care system
Providing adequate housing and removing slums.
2- Good Governance
– Supporting the rule of law, providing access to justice and promoting good governance
– Improving administrative decentralization and public participation in decision-making
– Promoting integrity and transparency and combating corruption
– Reforming public financial management and achieving financial sustainability
3- Diversified economy
– Achieving a high and sustainable economic growth rate
– Increasing the efficiency of the oil sector
– Strengthening the private sector and increasing its contribution to sustainable development
– Developing the agricultural sector and achieving food security
– Developing infrastructure
– Strengthening an active and well-managed financial sector.
4- Safe society
– Promoting a culture of tolerance, dialogue and peace and ensuring the advancement of families, women, vulnerable groups and people with special needs
– Promoting the values ​​of citizenship and reducing inequalities
– Spreading the spirit of achievement, initiative and volunteer work
– Providing sustainable solutions to displacement and internal and external migration
5- Environment emissions
– Reducing environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions
– Promoting the efficient use of water resources
– Promoting environmental conservation
– Developing consumption and production patterns to achieve environmental sustainability.
6- Renewable energy and sustainable development
– Economic and political independence
– Low cost
– Improving public health
– Inexhaustible energy.
The Faculty of Law is one of the first faculties that works hard to achieve the goals of sustainable development through educational programs, effective participation and diverse partnerships.
