Dr. Ikram Faleh Ahmed, one of the lecturers of the Public Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul, participated for the period October 7-8, 2024 in the work of the training workshop for members of the Nineveh Provincial Council and its administrative cadres, entitled (Powers and Competencies of Local Governments According to the Constitution and the Law
And Their Responsibilities in Mitigating and Adapting to the Effects of Climate Change). The participation consisted of giving lectures on the topic of the workshop, which dealt with explaining both the powers and responsibilities of the local government according to what is stated in the constitution and its relationship to climate change and the powers of the provincial councils under the Law of Governorates Not Organized in a Region No. 21 of 2008, as amended, and the powers and competencies of the local government according to what is stated in the Environmental Improvement Law No. 72 of 2009 and methods of issuing local legislation. The above participation represents the pivotal role of our college in the context of its societal openness and interaction with state departments and institutions, which contributes to spreading legal culture among the various segments and classes of society.
