Scientific Workshop on Community Police and its Role in Confronting Violence Against Women,,,
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law, and the members of the College Council, and with the follow-up of Dr. Shaima Abdul Sattar Jabr, and under the slogan (Unite to End Violence Against Women), the Women’s Affairs Committee in our college, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit in the Presidency of the University of Mosul and the Community Police Directorate, held its scientific workshop on Sunday, December 8, 2024, entitled Community Police and its Role in Confronting Violence Against Women, which witnessed the presentation of a number of research papers by officers and members of the Community Police Directorate that addressed the concept of violence, its forms, images, types, causes, causes, mechanisms, and effects on the individual, family, and societal levels, and the legal procedures to confront it, while addressing preventive and supervisory means to reduce it, with a statement of the role of culture and awareness in reducing it. The workshop also addressed the position of Islamic law on violence in general and violence against women in particular. The workshop also showed the extent of Its negative effects on the disintegration of family ties and societal cohesion, with a review of a number of cases of violence against women and the resulting disastrous results. The workshop also reviewed the role of government institutions and their legal, awareness and advisory procedures in reducing this phenomenon. The workshop witnessed the attendance of male and female college members who directed many questions and inquiries about its topic, which were answered in detail by those in charge of it. Then, Professor Dr. Munir Salem Taha, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, distributed certificates of appreciation to the lecturers in appreciation of their efforts in holding this workshop, which comes within a series of scientific, research, cultural and student activities for our college during the current academic year 2024-2025.
