A scientific workshop on the role of law in sustaining the plant environment…
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law, the Central Committee for Sustainable Development at the College of Law, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, held a scientific workshop on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, entitled “The Role of Law in Sustaining the Plant Environment.” The workshop began with a speech by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law, and Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs. The workshop welcomed the researchers and attendees, praising the efforts made in holding this workshop. The scientific session then began, with the presentation of a number of research papers that addressed the right to a clean environment. The session addressed the concept of the environment and its impact on public health, highlighting the importance of biodiversity. It also clarified the meaning, concept, causes, types, and impacts of pollution on the environment, life, and public health, emphasizing that water and air pollution are the most dangerous types of pollution due to the A direct threat to life in general and human life in particular, with an explanation of the mechanisms for preserving the environment, in which awareness and public culture and the role of educational programs and the media come at the forefront of the mechanisms that have a role in preserving the environment. The workshop also addressed the importance of afforestation and its role in combating desertification, with an explanation of its concept, the means leading to it, and ways to combat and limit it, while addressing the importance of afforestation, its types, its direct effects on health and life, and its role in combating the most dangerous phenomena, including desertification and pollution. The workshop also showed the international mechanisms for protecting the environment from the phenomenon of global warming and the role of the international community and international organizations in reducing the phenomena of global warming and climate change on planet Earth, in addition to international coordination by signing many international agreements and treaties that contribute to creating a clean environment. The workshop witnessed a distinguished presence of academics, researchers, those interested in legal affairs, and students who directed many questions and inquiries about the topic of the workshop, which were answered in detail by those in charge. Then, the Deanship of the College honored the lecturers with certificates of appreciation in appreciation For their efforts in holding this workshop, which is part of a series of scientific, research, cultural and student activities for our college during the current academic year 2024-2025.
