Participation in the scientific workshop entitled “Criminal Linguistics / A Legal and Linguistic Approach”
Assistant Professor Dr. Fathi Muhammad Fathi, a lecturer in the Human Rights Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul, participated on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the scientific workshop entitled “Criminal Linguistics / A Legal and Linguistic Approach”, which was held by the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Education for the Humanities at the University of Mosul, in cooperation with the French-Iraqi Cultural Institute, the Iraqi Linguists Association/Nineveh, and the Center for Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence at the University of Mosul. The participation was represented by a research paper entitled “The Impact of Changing Verbal Semantics on the Effectiveness of Legal Language / International Texts as a Model”, in which he addressed the interrelationship between legal science and linguistics, reviewing the impact of changing semantic meanings on the formulation of legal texts and the adaptation of judicial rulings, especially in the field of international law. The above participation comes within the plans and programs of the Deanship of our College for scientific cooperation and cognitive communication with the scientific, research, cultural, and student activities and events held by the colleges of the University of Mosul and its research centers, which contributes to keeping abreast of all new developments in the field.
