PhD thesis in public law on the role of the United Nations in confronting emerging challenges to international peace and security.
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Public Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a doctoral thesis on the role of the United Nations in addressing emerging challenges to international peace and security. Several members of the College Council and faculty members attended the discussion.
The thesis, presented by Omar Ahmed Khalil, a student in the Public Law Department, addressed the United Nations, which has taken upon itself the responsibility of maintaining international peace and security and exercising its jurisdiction to confront threats to international peace and security. It also sought to adapt its role to emerging developments resulting from scientific and industrial progress and the impact this has had on international peace and security by developing its mechanisms and operating mechanisms to meet emerging challenges.
The thesis aims to outline the stages through which international peace and security have passed, highlighting the inverse relationship associated with the acceleration of emerging challenges and the deterioration of international peace and security.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad, and included Professor Dr. Ahmed Tariq Yassin, Assistant Professor Dr. Ayad Younis Muhammad, Assistant Professor Dr. Walid Ahmed Suleiman, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhad Abdul-Jamal Abdul-Karim, and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali.
