On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Faculty of Law at the University of Mosul, a defense of the master’s thesis entitled:
“The effectiveness of international and national efforts to recover funds obtained from corruption crimes”
by student Omar Natiq Yahya, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi.
The thesis dealt with shedding light on international and national efforts to ensure the recovery of funds obtained from corruption crimes in a successful and effective manner, and the importance of the study increases due to the novelty of the concept of asset recovery and the direct relationship between asset recovery and reducing and combating corruption and the relationship of asset recovery and its importance in relation to contemporary concepts of international law. The thesis aimed to shed light on the concept of asset recovery, which is one of the topics that affect the interests of all peoples, and aimed to highlight the international and national efforts that adopted the issue of asset recovery and indicate the role provided by the different international institutions.
