On Monday, October 13, 2025, Taiba Ahmed Hussein’s master’s thesis, titled “Custody Disputes in International Private Relations,” was discussed at the College of Law at the University of Mosul, under the supervision of Dr. Badran Shakeeb Abdul Rahman.

The thesis addressed the concept of custody, its conditions, and the party entitled to it. It also examined international jurisdiction and the enforcement of foreign judgments, and clarified the applicable law to disputes arising from custody cases.

Through her study, the researcher aimed to address the issue of custody within the framework of private international law, particularly since the Iraqi legislator in the current Civil Code has assigned custody to the father’s nationality law without specifying a specific timeframe. This has raised legal issues related to determining the applicable law in this area.

After an extensive academic discussion of the thesis topic, the thesis was approved and the student was awarded a Master’s degree in Private Law.
