Guidance Seminar

On the occasion of launching the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week program for 2025, the University Psychological Counseling Division held a guidance seminar on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in cooperation with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substance Control. A number of research papers were presented, addressing all aspects of the phenomenon, including criminal policy in confronting drug crimes. Professor Dr. Muhammad Abbas Hammoudi, a faculty member in the General Branch, discussed the crimes of trafficking, possession, and promotion of narcotics, and the penalties prescribed by the Iraqi legislator for each. The seminar also highlighted the role of intentional awareness in educating the public about the dangers of drugs, in a paper presented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Mar’i Al-Ma’mari, a faculty member at the Imam Al-Azam College. The media officer of the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substance Control discussed the Directorate’s role in combating drugs and the mechanisms it employs in arresting suspects. The seminar was moderated by Assistant Professor Rana Abdul-Mun’im, a faculty member in the General Branch. This seminar is part of the awareness programs undertaken by the Psychological Counseling Division. University students, through raising awareness of the dangers of drugs and other negative phenomena that society suffers from, and protecting our dear youth and students from slipping and falling into their clutches.
