Scientific Conference

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and in the presence of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdul Rahim Jassim, and with the guidance and follow-up of Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Ramadan Al-Khattabi, the College of Law, in cooperation with the Imam Al-Kadhim (PBUH) College of Islamic Sciences, organized a scientific symposium entitled:
“The Role of Law and the Humanities in Combating the Scourge of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances,” on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, as part of the launch of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week program for 2025.
The symposium featured the presentation of several peer-reviewed research papers by professors from both colleges. These papers addressed, from a specialized scientific perspective, the various legal, social, and humanitarian dimensions related to the phenomenon of drugs and their serious effects on the social fabric. They also reviewed the national and international frameworks adopted in combating drugs and analyzed the Iraqi legislator’s approach to criminalizing and confronting them.
These research papers were presented in four scientific sessions, distributed as follows:
• Session One: Scientific and Literary Forum Hall.
• Second Session: Science and Technology Gardens Division Hall.
• Third and Fourth Sessions: Halls of the College of Islamic Sciences.
This forum is part of the University Psychological Counseling Division’s programs at the College of Law, and aligns with the college’s institutional approach of fostering academic partnerships and scientific collaboration with local and international universities and colleges. This approach facilitates the exchange of expertise, the development of knowledge mechanisms, and the enhancement of higher education outcomes, supporting the University of Mosul’s progress, serving its students, and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
