On Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the College of Law, University of Mosul, a master’s thesis defense was held for student Muhyiddin Ahmed Muhyiddin Saeed Al-Dulaimi, entitled:

“Human Organ Transplantation within the Framework of Private International Law – A Comparative Study.”

The thesis was supervised by Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Mohammed Khalil.

The thesis addressed the topic of human organ transplantation within the framework of private international law, given the international nature of these procedures, which often necessitate individuals traveling outside their countries for treatment or organ transplantation. This is further complicated by the possibility of the donor and recipient having different nationalities, or the procedure being performed in a country to which neither party belongs.

The study aimed to determine the applicable law for disputes arising from human organ transplantation, in light of the conflict-of-laws approach and rules of necessary application. It also sought to clarify the legal rights of foreigners to undergo such procedures, whether as donors or recipients.

The examining committee consisted of:

At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee presented its scholarly recommendations regarding the thesis, wishing the student continued success in his academic career.
